Bird Watching

Many of our residences have stunning backyard views out to the national forest, where you can see over 260+ species of birds. These species include shy, modest little brown birds to dramatic, colorful eagles, hawks and hummingbirds. There are also wild turkeys walking through our snowy yards and roost in nearby pine forests. A few dippers can be seen around the Rio Grande and its South Fork, within town limits. Owls’ impressive night-songs enchant visitors with haunting tunes from the forest. There are also colorful and vibrant bluebirds, hummingbirds, and jays from shiny black to gray and metallic blue. Soaring predators and flitting prey provide some wonderful drama, and feeders in town offer a likely sighting right from your car!
